About BrokerMatch

BrokerMatch is a free mortgage matching service. You fill in a short form, then we call you — usually the same day — to go through your situation in more detail.

Based on that conversation, we connect you with an FCA-regulated mortgage adviser who has specific experience with cases like yours. We're not a lender, and we don't provide financial advice. We're an introducer service — our job is to make sure you speak to the right adviser first time.

You can — but there are real risks to going to the wrong one first.

Not all mortgage brokers have the same lender access, and not all of them specialise in the same types of cases. A broker who mainly works with straightforward PAYE first-time buyers may not be well-equipped to help a self-employed applicant with a complex income structure. And if they submit an application with an unsuitable lender, a declined application can affect your credit file.

BrokerMatch does two things before you speak to any adviser: calls you to understand your situation properly, and matches you with an adviser who has specific experience with your case type. That way, the adviser you speak to is already equipped to help — not working it out as they go.

Comparison sites show you a list of products and rates. BrokerMatch doesn't do that. We don't show you mortgage products or rates at all — that's your adviser's job.

Our role is more specific: we speak to you, understand your situation, and identify which adviser type is the right fit, then make a targeted introduction. Think of it less like comparing products, and more like speaking to someone who knows the market well before being pointed to the right specialist.

Cost & Commitment

Yes — completely free for users at every stage. There is no cost to fill in the form, no cost to receive your introduction, and no cost for the adviser match.

BrokerMatch is paid by the mortgage advisers we connect you with — but only when they successfully help you. This is a standard commercial arrangement common across the industry, and it doesn't affect the advice you receive. Your adviser is required by the FCA to act in your interest, regardless of how they are introduced to you.

No. There is absolutely no obligation to proceed with the adviser we match you with. The introduction is a suggestion, not a contract. You're free to speak with them, ask questions, and decide at that point whether you want to work with them.

We ask that advisers make contact in a professional, pressure-free way. If you ever feel uncomfortable, let us know via our contact page and we'll address it promptly.

Credit & Privacy

No. BrokerMatch does not perform any credit checks — soft or hard — at any stage of using BrokerMatch. Our form collects self-reported information only.

Your credit file is not accessed, and no search will appear on your credit record as a result of using BrokerMatch. Only if you choose to proceed with a mortgage application through your matched adviser will any credit check be performed — and your adviser will explain when and why that happens.

The information you provide is used solely to understand your situation and match you with an appropriate adviser. We share a summary of your situation with your matched adviser to allow them to prepare for first contact.

We do not sell your data to third parties or use it for any other purpose. Full details of how we handle your data can be found in our Privacy Policy.

The Matching Process

We match based on your specific situation — including your mortgage type, employment status, credit profile, deposit size, and any complexity flags you've identified. Each adviser in our network has declared areas of specialism, and we match you to an adviser whose specialism aligns with your case.

For example, if you're self-employed with two years of accounts, we'll match you with an adviser experienced in self-employed cases — not a generalist who may not know the right lenders for that situation. If you have adverse credit, you'll be matched with an adverse credit specialist.

You can read more about our adviser vetting process on our How We Select Advisers page.

Complex situations are exactly what BrokerMatch is designed for. Straightforward cases are generally easy to handle through almost any adviser. It's the complex ones — bad credit, non-standard properties, recently self-employed, multiple income streams — where having the right specialist makes the biggest difference.

Our form includes a complexity flags step that lets you highlight specific aspects of your situation. We take these into account in the matching process and ensure you're connected with an adviser who has genuinely handled similar cases.

Yes. Our network includes advisers who specialise specifically in adverse credit cases — including CCJs, defaults, missed payments, and previous bankruptcy or IVA. These cases require an adviser with access to specialist lenders that high-street banks don't offer.

The worst outcome for someone with credit issues is to approach a mainstream lender or generalist broker who submits an unsuitable application — leading to a decline that makes your situation worse. BrokerMatch helps you avoid that by connecting you with someone who knows the right options for your credit profile.

We call you the same day — usually within a few hours of completing the form. After that call we make the match, and your adviser will be in touch shortly after. If you submit in the evening or at the weekend, we'll call you first thing the next working day.

Remember, there's no obligation to proceed — the first contact from your adviser is an introduction, not a sales call.
